How to Pack Fragile Items Safely for a Move

Most damage in a move happens because fragile items were packed loosely. A few simple habits make a big difference.

Use the right materials

• Sturdy new or strong used cartons, not weak or wet ones.
• Bubble wrap for glass, ceramics and screens.
• Packing paper to fill gaps so nothing shifts.
• Strong tape on the bottom and top of every box.

Pack smart

Wrap each item separately. Place heavier items at the bottom and lighter ones on top. Fill empty space so the box does not rattle when shaken, then mark it clearly as fragile and note which side is up.

Mirrors, TVs and electronics

Keep flat items upright, never stacked flat under other boxes. Use original packaging for electronics where you still have it. For large or valuable pieces, professional packing is the safest option.
